Update to: Residents concerned over mysterious camera in their neighborhood

Family and friends gathered around for the unveiling. At last, we were finally going to get some answers from Arizona Public Service (APS) about why they had installed a surveillance camera in our suburban, Phoenix neighborhood. Jill Monier, from Fox10, promised a fair and balanced report. My hours of investigation and research were about to bear fruit. Surely, cloud-nine allegories could compare to this moment. It was exhilarating!

How would you feel if you walked out your front door one day and noticed a big surveillance camera had been installed on a light pole across the street with no warning or notice.

You’d want to know who put it there, who is it watching, is it watching me?

That’s what one Phoenix neighborhood went through recently.

FOX 10 got to the bottom of who installed the camera but that only lead to even more concerns about their privacy.

Update to: A Neighborhood Strikes Back

On résiste à l’invasion des armées; on ne résiste pas à l’invasion des idées. – Victor Hugo

Translation:  One resists the invasion of armies; one does not resist the invasion of ideas.

Persistence, once again, has paid off. Thanks to all of our supporters, sharers, friends, neighbors, and family, we are forcing the hand of Goliath. I would like to give a major shout-out to all my fellow Redditors for raising awareness. You people are awesome! Within minutes of posting A Neighborhood Strikes Back to the r/phoenix subreddit, I was contacted by Fox 10 in Phoenix. They wanted to run the story.

Update to: A Neighborhood Demands Answers

Squeezing blood out of a stone might be easier than getting answers from government agencies and energy oligarchs. Stonewalling, misinformation, and ‘lack of jurisdiction’ has left a neighborhood grasping at straws for answers as to why a camera was installed on a light post and when met with resistance removed.

Following the path of bread crumbs dropped by the installers and physical location of the camera, APS appeared to be the first logical step of inquiry.

Update to: A Neighborhood’s Response

On the morning of January 27th, 2014, a quiet, residential street was invaded by the obtrusive eye of big brother. An unknown agency contracted with Arizona Public Service (APS) decided the collective opinion and concern of its customers right of privacy was unimportant. The intrusion of an all-seeing eye, mounted to a light post, crossed the line for many residents in its direct line of sight. Others think their rights have been violated, and they feel insulted that no forewarning was provided.

Update to: Neighborhood Big Brother

The search for who, what, and why a camera was installed on a peaceful, residential street continues. Rumors, anecdotal evidence, and speculation suggest that some, unknown, law enforcement agency has placed the camera for strategic surveillance. Which agency, and who they are monitoring still remains unknown.

What is known so far:

Multiple neighbors witnessed “white work trucks” equipped with cherry pickers appearing to be either from Cox (cable) or APS (power) parked by the light post on the morning of Monday, January 27th. According to one of the witnesses, the logo on two of the vehicles resembled APS, but was not the normal APS logo.

Neighborhood Big Brother

So, today started out like any other day. I woke up, showered, shaved, and proceeded to surf the inner-tubes (Internet) for the latest news on the NWO agenda. After watching the Snowden interview with German TV, I received a knock on my front door. Figuring it was my neighbor Bob, he comes around frequently enough asking for a smoke or just looking to chat, I opened the door.

Sure enough, Bob was there standing just outside of the gate looking perplexed. In his mid-sixties and topped with a full head of white hair, Bob is a retired Vietnam War Vet disappointed in the path his country has taken. I assumed he was just looking for a reason to get out of the house and have some human interaction. Inviting him in, he quickly asked me for a smoke as we walked through the house out to the patio.

Straining for a glimpse of fertile soil, a ship is found leaking, the powers do toil.

Don’t you see?

Don’t you see?

The course is right and true, the end is now certain. We are within view.

Below the bowels are aching, stressed from the weight of the water she taking.

Shouts of concern race through the halls. The alarm is faint, barely piercing through walls.

Crew and common gather in awe, as the captain stands pointing strong and tall.

I’ve answered your prayers, and restored your faith. In turn I ask for an oath to partake.
